Frequently Asked Questions

What is cyanuric acid?

Cyanuric acid protects the freely available chlorine against UV rays in outdoor pools. The desired value of cyanuric acid is 20 to max. 80mg/L. If this value is too low, you may raise it (if no ioniser is fitted) by adding stabilised chlorine, such as Starline chlorine tabs 90%, or Starline super granulate 63%.

If the value reaches its upper limit of 100mg/L, all the freely available chlorine in the water will be removed. This means that the freely available chlorine loses its effectiveness. To prevent this, adequate backwashing is required. Advice: on average 1x per week at least 2.5 minutes (depending on pump and filter capacity).
